Roberto Olabe expressed “moderate optimism” regarding the young starlet staying another season in San Sebastian.
Roberto Olabe, the sporting director at Real Sociedad, embarked on an ambitious project this summer.
He secured the services of young talents like Odegaard, Isak, and Roberto Navarro while supplementing the starting eleven with a La Liga proven talent in Portu.
By managing to retain players like Oyarzabal, WIllian Jose, and Zaldua among many others – La Real have built a team to remember.
With the intelligent appointment of Imanol Alguacil, Olabe has earned rightful praise for his role in building the squad construction. He spoke to the media today via teleconference and was asked about Martin Odegaard’s future:
“Martin decided to come to us after having an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen,” Olabe said.
“I imagine that he liked what he heard and saw, and I understand that it’s going to be similar now. We have to let him express himself, not just as a player, but as a person too.”
Olabe went on to discuss the strong relationship between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad.
“We’ve had a special relationship with Real Madrid for some time,” Olabe commented.
“There is an open conversation and they know how Martin is and what he’s thinking. I’m moderately optimistic from what I see on Martin’s face. I have a lot of confidence in him, not just as a player, but how he is. I’m more worried about Martin than Madrid.”
